Nice diamond: 1.4 carat and close to perfect!

James Allen is a great place to shop for a diamond because of the fantastic images they have of each diamond, and you can view the diamonds in 360 degrees, from all sides.

The downside is that lots of people are snatching up the nicest diamonds because they can view the diamonds online, and quickly tell if it’s one they want. I’ve been following James Allen’s website for years now and it has recently taken me longer to find a diamond which I would recommend to my readers.

But there are still a few tricks you can use to find the ones that are beautiful, top performing, but still come up under any search for “excellent” cut diamonds.

Today I persevered, changing various search parameters, and finally found a real treasure. This one gets my “No Regrets” stamp of approval.

The trick was to narrow down the price range and the diamond sizes, then organise by descending price, rather than ascending price. Often two or more diamonds will have the same rating but one will be priced higher because it’s just a little bit more “excellent”. The difference can only be noted by actually comparing it to others of similar grading.

As James Allen has a huge inventory, many diamonds will invariably those of lesser quality, and yes they are there for the less discerning shopper, and to annoy the rest of us who can see the lower prices but know that it’s just not worth it.

Choosing an F colored stone is going to be very close to completely colorless, and will sparkle that much more without being priced completely out of range of many people as is the case with E and D rated diamonds.

You can see the delightful stone here: http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.40-carat-f-color-vs1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-358282
